Marginal log-linear models and mediation analysis

چکیده
After reviewing some not well known results about marginal log-linear models, the paper derives new ones and shows how they might be relevant in mediation analysis when all variables are categorical. By focusing on interactions between treatment response, both marginally jointly with respect to mediating variables, a relation these parameters is derived. In addition, describes class of models which linear constraints may imposed simultaneously two sets interaction parameters. An application education transmission from parents their children used as an illustration.

Marginal log-linear parameterization of conditional independence models
Models defined by a set of conditional independence restrictions play an important role in statistical theory and applications, especially, but not only, in graphical modeling. In this paper we identify a subclass of these consisting of hierarchical marginal log-linear models, as defined by Bergsma and Rudas (2002a). Such models are smooth, which implies the applicability of standard asymptotic...
متن کاملDecomposable Log-linear Models Decomposable Log-linear Models
The present paper considers discrete probability models with exact computational properties. In relation to contingency tables this means closed form expressions of the maksimum likelihood estimate and its distribution. The model class includes what is known as decomposable graphical models, which can be characterized by a structured set of conditional independencies between some variables give...

• As x gets bigger, so does expx. So raising θsolid with your slider will raise the numerators of p(solid circle) (1) and p(solid triangle) (3). To be precise, each time you increase θsolid by 1, you multiply those numerators by e. (And decreasing θsolid by 1 divides them by e.) • Finally, the four probabilities (1)–(4) always sum to 1 (thanks to their common denominator Z). That’s required bec...
متن کاملLog-Linear Models
This is yet another introduction to log-linear (“maximum entropy”) models for NLP practitioners, in the spirit of Berger (1996) and Ratnaparkhi (1997b). The derivations here are similar to Berger’s, but more details are filled in and some errors are corrected. I do not address iterative scaling (Darroch and Ratcliff, 1972), but rather give derivations of the gradient and Hessian of the dual obj...
متن کاملDeformation-Aware Log-Linear Models
In this paper, we present a novel deformation-aware discriminative model for handwritten digit recognition. Unlike previous approaches our model directly considers image deformations and allows discriminative training of all parameters, including those accounting for non-linear transformations of the image. This is achieved by extending a log-linear framework to incorporate a latent deformation...
